Submissions will be accepted until April 5th at Midnight!

Inspired by Eve Ensler's The Vagina Monologues and MSU's Bozeman Monologue Project, the Helena Community Action Team is excited to announce the 1st Helena Monologues! The goal of this production is to provide an opportunity for the people of Helena to share their stories, and to serve as a catalyst for public dialogue in order to carry on in conversation, and in action, the issues these monologues address. People of all genders, backgrounds, ages, sexual orientations and identities are invited to take part in writing and performing monologues unique to the Helena experience and the people who live here.

In this call for submissions, we're asking writers to share their triumphs and hardships related to poverty, discrimination, human sexuality, bullying, physical/mental health, body image, activism, etc etc. We'd like to raise awareness about these topics, how they intersect with one another and with the Helena community. Express yourself in your voice. Tell your story.

The Community Action Team will work with you one on one to help you edit your monologue and prepare for the performance (end of June). Submissions should be between 2-4 pages in length and take no more than 10 minutes to perform.

Poems are welcome! Writers are encouraged to perform their own monologue, but it is not required. If you'd like to remain anonymous, please include that request in your submission and we will not publish your name in the program/script.

We want to involve and collaborate with Helena residents no matter their acting or writing experience.
