Description:
Yoga for Healthy Aging

Thursday, January 18, 12:10-12:50 PM, Small Meeting Room.
Bring your own lunch and discuss yoga for healthy aging. This is a drop-in discussion group (no physical yoga), and is free and open to everyone.

No matter how old we are, we are all aging! And, none of us are immune to aging's effects. Once a month, the library will host local yoga teacher Anna Bradley, ERYT-200, and a discussion on yoga for healthy aging. Yoga provides us with tools and techniques to take care of ourselves; a well-rounded yoga practice maintains strength, balance, and flexibility in both the mind and body. Throughout this series, we will learn some of the science behind how yoga helps our bodies age well and some tips for integrating yoga into our daily lives.

January's topic is Yoga for the Brain. As we age, our mental ability can decline. We may begin to experience difficulty with tasks such as learning new things, retrieving memories, and staying focused. Luckily, we can train our brain by using it in new ways to engage attention, changing our routines, and engage multiple senses at once. We can create fun puzzles for our brains in our yoga practice, while reaping added benefits like stress reduction and improved sleep. For more information call 447-6681.
