From Armistice to Aftermath: Post WWI Montana
10:45 AM
Montana Historical Society (east of the Capitol)
From Armistice to Aftermath: Post WWI Montana Description:
Armistice Day, 11 November 1918, brought an end to fighting on the Western Front. However, the war’s end proved to be a harbinger of change for the world, the United States, and, of course, Montana. While international and national governments attempted to cope with a changing political landscape, Montanans struggled with the legacies left by the Progressive Era and harsh WWI political environment. While drought put an end to the Homestead boom, Unions attempted to maintain the gains made during the war. MHS Reference Historian Zoe Ann Stoltz will examine these forces—both natural and manmade—that not only played important roles in post WWI, but helped define today’s Montana. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Montana Historical Society.
