Hooverizing

Description:
In 1917, President Wilson appointed Herbert Hoover the federal Food Administrator. He was so successful during WWI in stirring national conscience about voluntary food rationing that the term “Hooverizing” came to symbolize wartime successes in food conservation. Reference Historian, Zoe Ann Stoltz will describe how Montana women embraced—or stumbled over—the challenges inherent to food conservation, and share recipes, strategies, and stories from the period. This program is part of the March Lecture Series which is in is sponsored by the Friends of the Montana Historical Society observance of Women’s History Month. Lectures are $5.00 each.
