Archaeological work in Western Montana is turning up recurring evidence of human occupation immediately after the eruption of Mount Mazama in the Cascade Range about 7,000 years ago. Steve Platt spent 25 years as the Staff Archaeologist for the Montana Department of Transportation. He recently retired from MDT.
