Delta by Marriott Hotel (Colonial)
Janet Hulme and Les Cramer will present the history of "Sun Ray Place in the Rattlesnake Valley near Missoula to the Last Chance Gulch Corral History Dinner Club on Monday May 16th at the Delta Hotel (Colonial) at 5:30 p.m. Dinner will be served at 6:00 p.m. Reservations are required by calling Shirley Thomas by Tuesday noon May 10th at 227-5953 or 431-8196.

Jan and her husband Richard purchased the land in 1992. Jan delved into the history of those who had lived on the land before them. It is an interesting history from the Salish Indians using the Rattlesnake to avoid the Blackfeet Indians in Hellgate Canyon, William Hamilton's first cabin, the Effinger family story, to the Sun Ray Dairy. It spans from 1858 to 2020. Bill Hamilton, the government's Mullen Road scout, may have been the first white man in the 1850's to trap and fish the upper regions of Rattlesnake Creek. Hamilton opened the first trading post in present day Missoula at the Rattlesnake confluence with the Clark Fork River exchanging trinkets and food in return for beaver pelts.
