Trauma and Healing Description:
Trauma and Healing: Lessons Through Literature

Young Clemantine Wamariya, a Kigali refugee and genocide survivor, represents the view of many when she writes, “I’m telling this story to save myself.” For all the traumas we endure, or hear about, or with which we sympathize, healing begins if some of the story can be told.

Plymouth Church – UCC, 400 S. Oakes, invites the public to take part in a series of book readings and discussions about trauma and healing. The first discussion, Wednesday, June 27th, at 4:00 PM, at the church, focuses on the literature of “War and Conflict”. Dennis Taylor, Acting Helena City Manager and Vietnam War Veteran will moderate the discussion. There is no cost, and copies of selected readings are available in advance.

If you are interested in participating in this discussion, please call Plymouth at 442-9883 to reserve space and to inquire about getting copies of the literature.

Selections by Montana authors and moderated by Suzanne Schwichtenberg, Lewis and Clark Adult Services Librarian, will be featured July 25. The final book discussion, Tracy Kidder’s Strength In What Remains, will be held August 29, moderated by Susan Butler, editor and retired educator.
