Cooking Together to Build Communities
1:30 PM
Lewis and Clark Library
My name is Shanta Nimbark Sacharoff. I am an author of several vegetarian cookbooks and have worked in a food coop in SF Bay Area for over 30 years. Currently, I have been promoting my latest cookbook "Cooking Together" which focuses on benefits of sharing cooking and food. I come to Missoula MT every summer for two months to visit relatives and to do cooking workshops. I have done this workshop at Missoula Public Library and at Missoula Food Bank. My library workshop does not include real cooking as most libraries do not have cooking facility for the public. Instead, I discuss the importance of cooking together with family and friends and show spices, herbs and other wholesome ingredients going into various cuisines included in my book. I also demonstrate some easy to do food preps using my portable small food processor. I give out samples to the audience.
If your library has funds, I welcome whatever honorarium (and/or cost of ingredients for samples) you can offer. However, this is not absolutely necessary. I enjoy doing this to promote public education regarding healthy food at public libraries.
I selected a date and time for the proposed workshop to fill out the application, but any afternoon or evening in the month of July or August in 2020 is fine as that is when I will be in Missoula.
My books are currently circulated by Missoula Public Library and sold at the Real Food Company Store in Helena, MT.
