Ditch your old clothes and pick up some new, for free!

Cockroach zine’s first Helena clothing swap is coming and it’s going to be a real banger.

Here’s how it work:

Pick out some not-too-worn clothes you no longer want, wash & pack ‘em, then drop them off at the Cockroach zine booth at the Helena Farmers’ Market (here’s a list of when I’ll be there - https://cockroachzine.com/events/) or other Cockroach events.

Head on over to the large meeting room at the Lewis & Clark Library on August 23 anytime between 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and pick out some of the gently-worn, clean clothes others have parted with.

Pop-up change rooms, mirrors and vegan snacks will all be available.

RULES

-Don’t use this as an excuse to get rid of a stained sweater or cat hair covered leggings; although there will be a donation bin to upcycle what’s too holey for wear. Just make sure to separate your wearables and craftables into separate bags.

-No judgment or meanness. If you think someone is picking out something that doesn’t look great on them, that you think doesn’t match how they present gender-wise or doesn’t fit, keep it to yourself and spend some time thinking about where those ideas came from. Basically, transphobia and body shaming are not welcome here.

-If you can’t drop clothes off ahead of time or find something last minute you want to get rid of, feel free to bring it along the evening of. You can just sort your old items onto the tables as you look through what others have laid out.

The first five people to drop-off their clean, gently worn clothes will get a free one year subscription to Cockroach zine. The following 25 people will each get a free back issue of the zine.
