FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: October 9, 2017

Public Invited to Keynote Address and Performance at Playwrights Conference
November 2, 2017, at 6:30 pm at Helena High School Little Theatre

Keynote Address by James Still:
The public is invited to attend, at no charge, the Keynote Address by James Still at the first Montana Playwrights Conference. Keynote speaker, James Still, a world-renowned playwright and inspirational speaker, will give his keynote address on November 2 at 6:30 pm in Helena High School's Little Theatre. We encourage you to attend this entertaining, educational, and enlightening event.

As a playwright, James' work has been produced throughout the world. His plays have been nominated four times for the Pulitzer Prize, and have been developed at prestigious institutions such as Robert Redford's Sundance, the New Harmony Project, Eugene O'Neill Playwrights Conference, and many others. Three of his plays received the Distinguished Play Award from the American Alliance for Theatre & Education.

James is the Resident Playwright at Indiana Repertory Theatre (IRT), which recently received a $2.5 million gift to honor his 20th season as IRT's Playwright-in-Residence, and officially name the James Still Playwright-in-Residence position in perpetuity through the designation of The James Still Playwright-in-Residence Fund. James is one of the few playwrights in the country to hold such tenure.

Montana Tales and Native Storytelling
Montana Tales, a collection of short plays, monologues, and essays, and a storytelling performance by OPI Indian Education Specialist, Mike Jetty, will be presented in the Helena High School Little Theatre immediately following the keynote address for a $10 charge. (Free to registered participants of the Montana Playwrights Conference.)

The first Montana Playwrights Conference, scheduled for November 2 and 3, 2017, at Helena College is offered through a partnership among the Montana Playwrights Network (MPN), the Helena College Foundation, Helena College's Continuing Education department, and the Theatre Arts program at Helena High School. In addition, our supporters include Humanities Montana, Opportunity Bank, Sullivan Financial Group, and many Helena area businesses.
